Julaton?s 2nd Pro Win Part of an Awesome Night at Pechanga

PhilBoxing.com

Temecula, CA -- Roy Englebrecht Events and the Hollybrook Regency, Inc., the promoters of tonight?s IFBA Women?s Championship Boxing could not be more correct. They promised a slam-bang evening of women?s boxing at the Pechanga Resort Casino and that is exactly what they delivered.

PhilBoxing was fortunate be a witness the event courtesy of the Pechanga Public Relations Office through a nice lady named Audra. The event was the first time ever PhilBoxing covered a fight at Pechanga.

Ana ?The Hurricane? Julaton, the pride of Daly City, California and the Philippines tonight gave all she had to win her second fight as a pro. Julaton, using her ring smarts learned through years of amateur boxing and polished to a near diamond finish by the master himself, Freddie Roach of the fame Hollywood Wildcard Gym, beat a much experienced Carly Batey of San Diego, California. Batey sports a 3-2-3 record in contrast to Julaton?s 1-0-0 record as a pro. Julaton and Batey fought at a weight limit of 122 lbs.

Before the fight, many pundits had concerns about the choice of Julaton?s opponent. Batey is slugger who gives no ground to her opponent. And with 8 fights on her belt, she is far more experienced than Julaton. But Angelo Reyes, Julaton?s manager expressed confidence on his ward. He knew that Julaton stands a fairly good chance of succeeding not only because she has the mentality and the heart to do so but also because of the excellent coaching she received from Roach.

That is not to mentioned the inspiration she got training alongside her idols, Manny Pacquiao and Gerry Penalosa at the Wildcard Gym.

With tonight?s victory Julaton is well on her way to far and bigger successes. A couple or three more of these victories will line her up for a title. That should come within a couple of years down the road.

The results of the other fights are as follows:

Jennifer Barber of Northridge, CA TKO?d Handi Hernandez of Phoenix, Arizona. Barber is now 5-0-0 (3KO) and Hernandez dropped to 5-3-0 (2KO)

Lisa Brown of Toronto, Canada retrained her IFBA Jr. Featherweight crown via closed split decision over Jeri Sitzes of Springfield, MO. Brown is now 14-3-3 (4KO) and Sitzes, 14-6-1 (6KO).

Chevelle Hallback of Tampa, FL kept her IFBA Lightweight title, turning back the challenge of a game youngster from Bronx, NY, Melissa Hernandez. Hallback improved to 26-5-1 (11KO) and the Hernandez dropped to 7-2-1 (2KO). The Hallback-Hernandez fight was a slugfest that kept the crowd on their feet.

In the main event, the only lackluster fight of the night, Holly Holm of Albuquerque, NM beat Belinda Laracuente of New York, NY via a unanimous decision to kept her IFBA Welterweight diadem. Holm is now 21-1-2 (6KO) and Larcuente, 23-8-3 (9KO).

The fight card will be telecast tomorrow (on a delayed basis) via the FSN ? Best Damn Championship Boxing?.
