Tour Package Up for Pacman Bout
By Marlon Bernardino PhilBoxing.com Wed, 30 Jan 2008
FOR a special tour package worth P88,800, Manny Pacquiao fans can catch the Filipino icon in the flesh in his March 15 rematch with Juan Manuel Marquez at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. The tour package was put up by a group of Filipino
businessmen that includes sports event organizer Emmet Penson, hospitality expert Dan Tardecilla and travel consultant Noel Mendoza.
Cris Aquino, the perennial flag-bearer in Pacquiao fights in the US, is also part of the group that will try to make things easier for Filipino fight fans to go to the US and watch the ring action live.
The package includes a round-trip economy airfare from Manila and back through Philippine Airlines, a five-night stay with breakfast at Tropicana Las Vegas fronting Mandalay Bay and a Pacquiao fight jacket. Visa facilitation is not included in the package as well as the fight tickets. But those who will avail of the special package can make reservations for tickets
of their preference ? from $600 down to $400.
"We have reserved 50 tickets for this tour. It's their choice. What we can assure them is they can get the tickets that they want, and that they will have a place to stay when they get there," said Penson in yesterday's PSA Forum at Shakey's along Un Avenue.
The problem with some Pacquiao fans who come to his fights without prior arrangement is that they find great difficulty in looking for a place to stay or that tickets have been priced higher in the black market.
Date of departure is on March 13 or two days before the fight and the schedule of the trip back to Manila is on March 18. Those joining the tour will also get a chance to witness live the official weigh-in on the eve of the fight.
And hopefully, they can join the victory celebration, too.
