Pe?alosa wants Ponce de Leon after Vorapin
By Allaine Ramos PhilBoxing.com Thu, 24 Jan 2008

World Boxing Organization bantamweight champion Gerry Pe?alosa is in deep training at Holywood's Wildcard gym, keenly eyed by his coach Freddie Roach for his March 2 title defense against challenger Ratanachai Vorapin at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, Philppines.
Pe?alosa is favored in his first title defense against Vorapin, a mandatory challenger by the WB0 despite a previous knockout loss to the Cebuano southpaw.
Unmindful of the setback of his preferred rematch with Daniel Ponce de Leon. Pe?alosa agreed to defend the crown he acquired by knockout from the Mexican Jhonny Gonzalez. This to pave the way for a return go with de Leon, current WBC super-feather kingpin assuming he gets past the wily Ratanachai.
"I'll go after de Leon's scalp (after I dispose of the top-ranked challenger) anywhere the world's super-bantamweight ruler wants. I'll avenge my earlier loss even in their backyard with his Papa acting as a judge," Pe?alosa boasted.
Ponce beat Pe?alosa in their initial title fight.
Rey Bautista, AJ Banal and Michael Farinas, three of the Philippnes top ring prospects are also seeing action in the undercard promoted by Golden Boy Promotiona in coordination with ABS-CBN Televison.
