Tiauson secures Feast of the Black Nazarene Open chess tilt; joins strong Vietnam chess tourney PhilBoxing.com Thu, 10 Jan 2019 RECARTE TIAUSON, a Technical Support Representative of RingCentral, secured the title in the recently-concluded Feast of the Black Nazarene Open chess championships dubbed as Alay sa Mahal na Poong Nazareno held at the Quiapo Dental Clinic in Z.P. De Guzman Street, Quiapo, Manila last Wednesday, January 9, 2019. Backed up by Senator Emmanuel "Manny" Pacquiao and RingCentral Director Joey Llanko, the Talisay, Negros Occidental native Tiauson finished on top with 65.5 points after a 24 hours of grueling matches in this double round robin Open tournament, applying the eight minutes play to finish time control format as he edged 2nd placer Don Tyrone "Turon" Delos Santos (64.5 points) and 3rd placer Sherwin Tiu (63.5 points). In capturing the Feast of the Black Nazarene Open chess championships, Tiauson took home P3,000 while Delos Santos and Tiu went home with P2,000 and P1,000 respectively. I never expected to win the Feast of the Black Nazarene Open chess championships," said Tiauson. ?I didn?t look to win the title, just to play my best,? said, Tiauson. "I knew that this was a tough tournament. I just tried to play my best and now I am really happy. The two-day event (Tuesday and Wednesday) started last Tuesday morning and end up on Wednesday early in the morning according to seven-time Philippine Executive Champion Dr. Jenny Mayor who hosted the said chessfest coincide the celebration of the Feast of the Black Nazarene. Rounding up to the top 10-circle are 4th Jerry Areque (63 points), 5th placer Joven Balsalubre (59.5 points), 6th placer Dr. Jenny Mayor (59.0 points) 7th Joel Cocjin placer (55 points), 8th placer National Master Efren Bagamasbad (54 points), 9th placer National Master and United States chess master Almario Marlon Bernardino Jr. (53.5 points) and 10th placer Patrick Credo (50.5 points). Other country's top woodpushers who seeing in action are International Masters Chito Garma and Chris Ramayrat as well Joselito Asi, Ruel Nisperos, Noel Jay "Super B" Estacio, Jay-R Sumagang (aka Suma) and reigning ASEAN Para Games gold medallist Felix Mijares Aguilera.
