JULATON, FARENAS EXCITED IN UNDERCARD BOUTS
By Salven L. Lagumbay PhilBoxing.com Sun, 07 Oct 2007

LAS VEGAS--Fil-Am Ana "The Hurricane" Julaton and Filipino featherweight prospect Michael Farenas have expressed readiness to do their best when they clash against separate opponents in the undercard of today's "Will to Win" card at the Mandalay Bay Events Center here.
The same can not be said, however, of the third Filipino on the undercard, LA-based Vernie Torres who was grossly overweight at yesterday's weigh-in and seemed undisturbed by it.
Julaton, the most decorated Filipina in the history of US amateur boxing, will take on Hondi Hernandez (4-1, 2 KO's) of Arizona in a four-round superbantamweight bout.
Renowned trainer Freddie Roach will be at Julaton's corner in her professional debut.

"I don't care who we fight, we'll take on Mike Tyson if we have to, just make the fight happen," Roach was quoted as saying when told Julaton would be facing the tough-as-nails Hernandez.
Julaton came in at 121 lbs, while her opponent Hondi Hernandez was at 128 lbs.
The Gubat, Sorsogon-raised Farenas, a protege of Gerry Penalosa and Kosuke Washio of Japan will face Arturo Valenzuela in a six-round featherweight bout.
Farenas (17-2-2, 15 KO's), who is the top-rated featherweight in the Philippines, will be making his American debut.
Torres, who came in at a bloated 127 lbs and did not seem bothered over the transgression, is a late replacement. He will be facing fellow journeyman Manuel Sarabia of Mexico who came in at 121.5 lbs.
