'ENKWENTRO' BOXERS MAKE WEIGHT; ALL SET FOR SPECTACULAR CARD SATURDAY

Mandaue City, Cebu ? All five matchups in Saturday's 'Enkwentro Dinhi sa Mandaue' boxing event made weight during the official weighin Friday afternoon at the J Centre Mall here as promoter Kenneth Rontal of the Championship Boxing Development of the Philippines (CBDP) promised a spectacular night of action Saturday night at the Mandaue City Sports & Cultural Center.

In the main event (top photo), world title challenger Vic Saludar (14-2-0, 9KOs) of Polomok, South Cotabato stepped the scales at 106 lbs while his opponent Toto Landero (8-1-2, 2KOs) of Pontevedra, Negros Occidental came in at 105 lbs. Saludar and Landero will battle it out for 10 rounds minimumweight contest.


In a highly anticipated matchup for the vacant WBO Asia Pacific Youth light flyweight title, undefeated Vince Paras (10-0-0, 9KOs) of General Santos city weighed at 108 lbs while his Cebu-based opponent Jimboy Haya (10-3-2, 6KOs) also came in at 108 lbs. Paras, fighting for the first time outside of Mindanao, said he was very excited and look forward to please the big city audience Saturday. Haya, for his part, promised an excellent fight.


For 10 rounds flyweight contest, veteran campaigner Froilar Saludar (24-2-1, 15KOs) of Polomolok, South Cotabato, came ? lb over the limit on the first try at 113 3/4 lbs in their agreed 113 weight limit. He has been give 2 hours to shed the excess weight. His opponent Salatiel Amit (10-2-2, 7KOs) of Cebu City made the weight on the first try at 113 lbs.


For 8 rounds light flyweight contest, undefeated Robert Paradero (13-0-0, 8KOs) of Malaybalay, Bukidnon weighed in at 105 3/4 while his opponent Charlie Malupanque (5-2-3, 4KOs) of Zamboanga City came in at 108 lbs.


In a special attraction for 6 rounds super flyweight women's boxing, lady boxer Casey Morton (4-0-3, 0KOs) of Hawaii weighed in at 116 lbs while his opponent Phannaluk Kongsang (0-2-0, 0KOs) of Thailand stepped the scales at 113 3/4 lbs.

WBO Vice-President for Asia-Pacific Leon Panoncillo Jr supervised the weighin of the Vince Paras vs Jimboy Haya WBO Asia-Pacific Youth light flyweight title fight while the rest of the weighin was supervised by Cebu Games & Amusements Board (GAB) official Rolando Mendoza.
