GANOY WANTS TO FIGHT ON BIG ARANETA CARD By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Thu, 20 Sep 2007 IBF Pan Pacific lightweight champion Ranee Ganoy, who has taken Australia by storm with his whirlwind style and punching power, wants to fight in Manila on a big fight card being lined up for the first weekend in December at the Araneta Coliseum, the ?Mecca? of Philippine sports and entertainment. Ganoy?s manager, Sydney-based Filipino Herminigildo ?Dido? Bohol told Viva Sports/Manila Standard Today in an overseas telephone conversation that he would gladly give up a scheduled title defense by Ganoy against Thailand?s Somchai Nakbalee on November 30 in order to fight in the Philippines. Bohol said Ganoy wants to give Filipino fight fans a glimpse of his punching power which has been a major attraction in Australia ever since he scored a stunning eighth round TKO Nigerian Fatai Onikeke, the former Commonwealth champion on September 15, 2006 and followed this up with a smashing eighth round knockout over WBC super featherweight title challenger Robbie Peden last March 9 to win the IBF Pan Pacific lightweight title. Peden had previously fought legendary Mexican Marco Antonio Barrera and lost a twelve round decision. Ganoy has been on a winning streak and now has a record of 19 knockouts in 23 wins with 10 losses and 2 draws. Ganoy is looking to avenge a six round unanimous decision loss to Nakbalee on July 9, 2004. If plans for the fight card at the Big Dome push through WBO Asia Pacific super bantamweight champion Rey ?Boom Boom? Bautista will headline the card in which he wants to prove he could comeback from a stunning first round KO loss to WBO champion Daniel Ponce De Leon last August 11. Other exciting fighters being lined up for the event are AJ ?Bazooka? Banal and bantamweight Michael Domingo who stunned undefeated Miguel Roman, a prot?g? of Oscar De La Hoya who had a record of 22-0 with 19 KO?s.
