FORT WORTH, Texas (Nov. 6, 2025) — With fight week in full swing, Golden Boy Promotions hosted a press conference today featuring the fighters of the highly anticipated Ortiz vs. Lubin card. Headlined by undefeated knockout sensation and WBC Interim Super Welterweight World Champion Vergil Ortiz Jr. (23-0, 21 KOs), of Grand Prairie, Texas, and fearless top contender Erickson “The Hammer” Lubin (27-2, 19 KOs), of Orlando, Florida, Golden Boy unveiled a stacked lineup of rising stars set to deliver an action-packed night of boxing.

Scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 8, at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, the 12-round world championship main event is presented by Golden Boy Promotions in association with ProBox and will stream live on DAZN beginning at 5 p.m. PT / 7 p.m. CT.

A limited number of Golden Boy VIP Experience tickets will also be available, featuring exclusive merchandise and fight-night upgrades. Tickets can be purchased at Ticketmaster.com or GoldenBoy.com.

Bumped up to the co-main event stage, Houston’s Darius “DFG” Fulghum (14-1, 12 KOs) will face Reading, Pennsylvania’s David “Dynamite” Stevens (15-2, 10 KOs) in a 10-round super middleweight fight for the WBA Continental North America Super Middleweight Title. Making his official Golden Boy debut, undefeated knockout artist Amari “The Reaper” Jones (14-0, 12 KOs) will meet Pensacola’s Shady Gamhour (14-2, 9 KOs) in a 10-round middleweight bout. Olympian and heavyweight prospect Joshua “Rocket” Edwards (4-0, 4 KOs) will collide with Zeno Vooris (5-1, 5 KOs) of Las Vegas in a six-round showdown. Opening the DAZN broadcast, undefeated cruiserweight Robin Safar (18-0, 13 KOs) of Las Vegas will square off against Willmore, Michigan’s Derick Miller Jr. (18-0, 10 KOs) in a 10-round clash of unbeatens and for the WBA Continental Americas Cruiserweight Title.

Headlining the Golden Boy Fight Night: Ortiz vs. Lubin Prelims, undefeated Eric Priest (16-0, 8 KOs) will look to continue his ascent in an eight-round middleweight bout against Esneiker Correa (16-6-2, 14 KOs). Rounding out the prelims, Amarillo’s Javier Meza (4-0, 2 KOs) meets El Paso’s Joshua Briones (3-4-1, 2 KOs) in a six-round super lightweight matchup. Opening up fight night, Gilroy, California’s Sam Castellanos (3-0, 2 KOs) is in a four-round super welterweight battle against Tulsa’s Ricardo Elizalde (0-1).

Here is what the main event fighters had to say:

Vergil Ortiz, WBC Interim Super Welterweight Champion:

“Lubin probably has the best resume at 154 right now. He’s one of the highest-ranked opponents, and that’s why I took this fight. I want to fight the best, and Lubin has been calling for this fight for a while. Why not? This is a great matchup, and the fans will love it.”

“Both of us will gain great experience from this. People underestimate how dangerous this fight is, but I don’t care if people overlook me or him. At the end of the day, it’s just me and him in the ring, and that’s all that matters.”

Erickson “Hammer” Lubin, No.1-Ranked Super Welterweight Contender:

“I’ve always wanted to fight the best. Vergil Ortiz is ranked number one by Ring Magazine, and a big win over him puts me right there as the number one guy. This is for the WBC Interim title, and I want to thank God, my team, ProBox, Golden Boy, and PBC for making this fight happen.”

“It’s been a long time coming. This fight is special to me. It’s in Vergil’s backyard. I don’t care if it was literally in his backyard. I’m ready to show I’m the best fighter at 154 pounds. My resume speaks for itself.”

“Everybody tune-in Saturday night — it’s Hammer time. I’ve fought in Texas about five times and walked away with a knockout every time. It’s going to be a big night of boxing, and you don’t want to miss it.”

“Vergil’s a great fighter. He comes to fight, he’s either walking away with a vicious knockout or a dominant performance. Oscar isn’t wrong — we are the two best at 154 pounds. The fans are in for a treat.”

“I took less money just to stay busy and get back into title contention. Vergil has met his match. You’ve got two great fighters going in there Saturday night. The fans, the boxing world, everyone’s in for a treat. It’s going to be a great night of boxing.”

Gary Jonas, ProBox TV CEO:

“We’re just happy to be here. We want to thank Golden Boy, DAZN, and PBC for helping Erickson and making this fight possible. Erickson’s been at this for 11 years. We’ve been together through ups and downs, and he’s focused, ready, and dedicated. This is a fight he really wanted. We’re looking forward to it — may the best man win.”

Rick Mirigian, Manager for Vergil Ortiz:

“This is a real fight. We’ve seen a lot of fights lately that are a joke — this isn’t one of them. These are two fighters who know how to fight. They’ve been in there with champions, and this is what the sport of boxing needs and deserves.”

“I want to thank Oscar, our team, Robert Garcia, Vergil Sr., our doctors, and cutman Mike Rodriguez. Vergil is ready. You’re going to see fireworks and the birth of a superstar on Saturday night. Mark my words.”

Oscar De La Hoya, Chairman and CEO of Golden Boy Promotions:

“He’s earned it — he’s the number one contender in the world. Vergil Ortiz has been fighting tough fights, climbing the ladder, and becoming an interim world champion. Lubin is right there too; he’s fought world champions and dangerous opponents.”

“This is another dangerous fight for Vergil Ortiz, but that’s who Vergil is — he takes on all comers. My only worry is that people are already talking about the next fight against Boots Ennis. I hear Boots might be coming to the fight with Eddie Hearn, but if they see Vergil in person, they might not want to fight him. Vergil Ortiz in person is a dangerous man.”

“What I love about Lubin is that he doesn’t care. He’s ready, he’s fought the best, and he doesn’t care that he’s fighting Vergil in his hometown. He’s here to take care of business. That’s why he’s so dangerous — maybe even more dangerous than Ennis. Vergil’s focused and determined on the job at hand, and that’s Lubin.”

“Both fighters believe in themselves, and that’s exactly what they should do. They’ve fought adversity, won, lost, and earned this moment. They’re here because they are the best at 154 pounds. You’re going to see the best of them Saturday night at Dickies Arena.”

“I remember Vergil Ortiz as a young kid fighting underneath Canelo at AT&T Stadium. He told Jerry Jones, ‘I’m going to fill up this stadium one day.’ Well, Jerry, we’re getting close. Saturday night, Erickson Lubin is coming in guns blazing — but Vergil’s got a dance partner who knows how to dance.”
