SONSONA VOWS TO MAKE BIG COMEBACK

General Santos City, Philippines - Former WBC International Silver super featherweight champion Eden ?Mr. Showboat? Sonsona of General Santos City said that he is tired of a ?bum life? and vowed to make a big comeback on December 4 in the double main header ?Brawl at the Mall: Return of the Gensan's Finest? at the Robinson?s place in General Santos City.

Sonsona (34-6-2-12 KOs) has been training since the first week of October at the Sanman Gym in Gensan for his comeback fight against current Mindanao Professional Boxing Association (Minproba) featherweight champion Jaime Barcelona of Bukidnon.

?I?ve decided to go home in Gensan to focus 100 percent in boxing. I?m tired of a bum life.? said the 27-year old Sonsona.
He surprisingly went into a long break after winning the vacant WBC International Silver super featherweight crown via sensational 2nd round technical knockout win against undefeated Adrian Estrella in Mexico last May 16, 2015.

But after 17 months of being inactive, Sonsona went back into his favorite sport.

?I will commit myself now to be a world champion with my new team Sanman Promotions,? he said.

Sonsona has just signed up with Jim Claude Manangquil of Sanman Promotions and Dexter Tan as his manager.

?I want to thank Sanman Promotions for giving me another chance. They know that I still have a lot left in me and I will show to that to everybody. I?m very excited,? said Sonsona, who is also now being trained by father Boy Sonsona at the Sanman Gym in Gensan. "Slowly but surely, we will bring back my old form,? said Sonsona, also a former Philippine bantamweight champion.
Sonsona is confident that he can still become a world champion with his talent.

?I?m still in my prime and I?m confident I can beat all the top featherweights,? he said.

Sonsona won his two assignments in the undercard of Manny Pacquiao?s fights against Miguel Cotto and Joshua Clottey.
He first stopped Eilon Kedem by a 2nd round technical knockout on Nov. 14, 2009 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. Sonsona then knocked out Mauricio Pastrana in the final 8th round on March 13, 2010 at the Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Sonsona also fought but lost for the WBO NABO super bantamweight championship by a 9th round knockout against Jonathan Oquendo in Puerto Rico last July 10, 2010.

?I?m sure that big things are coming and I?m looking forward to a big 2017,? he said.

Sonsona is hoping that boxing fans will come and witness his return on Dec. 4.

?It will be a good night. I?m happy to be back,? said Sonsona, who promised not to disappoint his fans.

?I will work hard and won?t let you down,? he said.

Barcelona, on the other hand, won the Minproba title by a majority decision against Jason Redondo last January 21 in Cagayan de Oro City. However, Barcelona lost his previous outing by a unanimous decision from the hands of former interim WBO Oriental lightweight champion Jay-ar Inson (12-0-0-8KOs).
