MANIATIS REBUTS ALLEGATIONS ON 'PINAY BOXER' JEN ORTIZ
By Dong Secuya PhilBoxing.com Mon, 28 Nov 2016
 Maniatis.
Well known Australian promoter Peter Maniatis has contacted Philboxing to correct allegations that his Filipina girlfriend Jennifer Ortiz was issued a Philippines Games & Amusements Board (GAB) certification in order for her to get an Australian visa and travel to Australia in 2012.
The allegation was contained in a formal complaint against GAB boxing chief Dr Nasser Cruz filed and signed by Cebu GAB boxing officials headed by radio broadcaster and boxing judge Edward Ligas. Ligas maintained that Cruz, among the indiscretions allegedly he committed (see story here), was he certified that Ortiz was a professional boxer in order for Ortiz to travel to Australia and meet Maniatis.
?Since Ortiz is not a boxer, as there is no record anywhere to prove that she is a boxer, issuing a certificate to that effect in order for her to travel to another country to meet someone there is a pure case of human trafficking,? Ligas told Philboxing.
Maniatis, in an email to Philboxing said that it was his company that sponsored Ortiz to get a tourist visa and entered Australia in 2012. ?[H]er visa in 2012 was a tourist visa sponsored by my company then we applied later for a partner visa in 2014. This had nothing to do with boxing!? Maniatis said.
Maniatis however said that he asked Ortiz to get a GAB certification in order for her to box in Australia so she can fight in one of his promotions but this has nothing to do with Ortiz's Australian visa application. ?[I]t was my fault Jen went for a boxing permit to box because I just wanted a special female fighter on my promotion here in Australia! Jen already had entry into Australia since 2012,? Maniatis clarified.
