I WILL BE WORLD CHAMPION AGAIN - PETALCORIN

PhilBoxing.com

GENERAL SANTOS, Philippines - Randy ?Razor? Petalcorin has vowed to be a world boxing champion again.

?The former world champion will be removed very soon. I will be world champion again in 2017,? said Petalcorin, a former interim WBA world lightflyweight champion from General Santos City.

He is scheduled to fight again on Tuesday, December 4 in the main event of the ?Brawl at the Mall: Return of Gensan?s Finest? at the Robinsons Mall in General Santos City.

Petalcorin is facing newly-crowned Minproba light flyweight champion Arnold Garde of President Roxas, North Cotabato for the vacant International Boxing Federation (IBF) Pan Pacific light flyweight crown.

?Garde is coming from four straight wins. Randy should not take him lightly,? said Sanman Promotions CEO Jim Claude Manangquil.
Garde, who has a record of 7 wins, 3 losses, 2 draws and 3 knockouts, won his crown via a unanimous decision against Ian Ligutan last September 17 at the President Roxas Gym.

The 26-year old Garde has improved since beginning training at the Empire Gym in Ilocos. He started his winning streak by defeating Rafael Sueno in Davao in February of 2015.

He followed it up with a 2nd round knockout win against Jhonny Belo on June 26 at the Almendras gym also in Davao. Garde then stopped Rodel Tejares by a 5th round TKO last December 12 also at Almendras gym.

Petalcorion, on the other hand, has started training back at the Sanman Gym last October and is now more inspired to fight since his wife Grace is already 4-months pregnant with their first baby.

Petalcorin said that he has overcome his bad experience when he was robbed during his championship fight for the vacant WBC Silver flyweight title by a split decision against Omari Kimweri last April 15 at the Melbourne Pavilion in Flemington, Victoria in Australia.

?I needed time off from the robbery. I got discouraged but I?m moving on and I?m working twice harder because I will become a father next year,? said Petalcorin.

Petalcorin said that it was hard to forget that fight but he is now okay and stronger.

?I used that as my learning experience,? he said.

He thanked the Sanman Promotions headed by CEO Jim Claude Mananguil and co-manager Peter Maniatis for ?all the support through ups and downs? and also for giving him another opportunity.

?Hopefully it?s all the way up now and I want IBF world champion Akira Yaegashi next? said Petalcorin, who said that he is still in the prime of his career.

?You will see a better Randy Petalcorin. Nagpapasalamat po ako sa lahat mga sumusuporta sa akin lalo na yung mga fans. Randy Petalcorin is back!? he said.
