KRIS GEORGE TO CAMERON HAMMOND: Your amateur credentials won't help you on November 25

PhilBoxing.com

CAMERON HAMMOND'S NEW TRAINER GLENN RUSHTON SAID his new charge has raw talent, slick boxing skills all of which was honed representing Australia all over the World as an amateur. Hammond's opponent on November 25 Kris George agrees, however he does have a stern warning for team Hammond.

"They always go on about his amateur career and his natural ability and I agree he probably does have a ton of natural ability, he's probably a very skilled boy but a twelve round pro fight in eight ounce gloves - that sort of thing - skill, natural ability - it's about more than that," George said.

"It's a whole different ball game, it's about grit, endurance, strength, mental toughness.

"I thought Glenn Rushton of all people would understand that process - the difference between the pro's and amateurs.

"I believe I train a lot harder than most fighters, I train two three times a day.

"I know that fitness, strength and durability is a major player in this fight and that's where I plan on winning the fight."

FULL INTERVIEW with Kris George talking about his bout with Cameron Hammond.

It's most certainly a case of deja vu for Kris George. Right now he's hearing all about how Cameron Hammond is a superior boxer to himself. He's heard it all before.

In his sixth pro fight he was up against the undefeated Ozan Craddock for the Queensland title - George silenced the critics with a brutal round three knock out.

In his most recent bout he travelled to New Zealand to face unbeaten Kiwi prospect Bowyn Morgan - Morgan suffered a similar outcome to Craddock - KO'ed in round three.

Will Cameron Hammond suffer a similar fate?

"From when the fight was signed I've always had visions of knocking Cameron out," George said.

"However you never go into a fight planning on knocking them out.

"The whole training camp all I have thought about is going twelve hard rounds.

"I have a twelve round game plan.

"Yes I've had epiphanies of knocking him out and I can it happen, and it could happen but my whole process and game plan is based around a twelve round fight."

George also feels certain he will test Cameron Hammond's chin like no one else has before.

"Glenn Rushton said in his comments his chin has been tested I don't see when...I don't see how?" George said.

"I mean the amateurs or sparring with head gear and bigger gloves - we're talking twelve rounds in eight ounce gloves and I know for a fact I hit harder than anyone he's fought before in the pro's.

"He might of been tested on some level before but we will see on the night."

George also admitted the news of Jeff Horn's trainer Glenn Rushton now working with Cameron Hammond adds extra spice to the contest.

"When I found out he was training Cameron it just added some icing on the cake," George said.

"All goes to plan and I beat Cameron on the night it's going to be a good little statement for the Horn camp to step up next time.

"I've fought some undefeated fighters before, I like being the underdog.

"The Commonwealth title is a big deal.

"I've had a great training camp, you won't see any excuses from me.

"You will see the best Kris George on the night."
