ROACH CONFIDENT ?BOOM BOOM? WILL BE BACK By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Wed, 15 Aug 2007 Freddie Roach, probably one of the greatest trainers in the world today and someone who is adored by Filipino fight fans and boxers alike says he is confident 21 year old Rey ?Boom Boom? Bautista will bounce back from his stunning first round KO loss to WBO super bantamweight champion Daniel Ponce De Leon. In an overseas telephone conversation with Viva Sports/Manila Standard Today. Roach said ?I talked to him this morning and he?s just very disappointed. You know he?s broken-hearted of course because it was his first loss in a world title fight. He?s a young man and he?ll be back.? Roach was pleased that Filipino ring idol Manny Pacquiao stood up for Bautista and gave him some good advice including the fact that ?he has to have some head movement and cannot stand as stiff as he does.? Roach said ?Manny is right. That?s very true.? Games and Amusements Board chairman Eric Buhain said the loss of Bautista was painful not just to the fighter but for all of us. Buhain said ?this is professional boxing and it happens to the best. But I think people will see you as a champion by the way you pick yourself up. They are not concerned about what happened. Instead they will watch how you bounce back and lift up the Philippines." Buhain went on, ? take a break, think about your career because the people understand. You are a young man and I think you are still a very, very possible future world champion and as an athlete myself I know your heart is there. One loss is okay. Even the best fighters in the world have to learn. You have to learn from this loss." Buhain noted that there were people around Bautista "who love you and respect you and when you come home to the Philippines you will still feel the love, you will hear them say ?sayang Boom Boom, sayang Boom Boom.? Buhain?s advise as a respone was ?forgive me but I will make up for it.? That?s the attitude of a champion? added the GAB chairman and multi-title Southeast Asian Games swimming champion. Buhain said ?there are many of your countrymen who believe in you. Recover and show the whole world that I lost now but when I get the chance in the future I will make up for it.?
