PhilBoxing.com

NANNING, CHINA ? Fight fans in this southern China city will get to witness a heavyweight clash between Ian Lewison (11-2-1,7KO?s) of the U.K. and China?s Wu Zhiyu (7-0,1KO) for the vacant WBO Asia-Pacific heavyweight title Friday at Nanning?s Guangxi Sports Center gymnasium.

Lewison weighed in at 249lbs while Wu was at 275 during the official weigh-in held Thursday afternoon at the Gold Diamond International Hotel. The venue was packed with journalists and enthusiastic fans eager to take photos with the participants.

Lewison is coming off a first round TKO win over Tomas Mrazek of the Czech Republic while Wu won his last fight by unanimous decision over Komgrit Nanakorn of Thailand.

Filipino Joel Taduran will be gunning for the vacant WBO Oriental flyweight belt when he battles Chinese boxer Xiang Jing.

Taduran (7-3-1, 1KO) came in at 109.6lbs while Xiang (8-4-2, 1KO) stepped on the scales at 111lbs. Taduran lost by unanimous decision to former WBC flyweight champion Toshiyuki Igarashi of Japan in his last fight while Xiang?s last recorded bout was in May 2015 when he lost to another Filipino, Macrea Gandionco, by TKO in the third round in a fight held in Kunming, China. Xiang also lost his WBO Asia-Pacific flyweight title in that fight.

The third WBO belt will be disputed by Sun Xiangxiang (7-0,5KO?s) of China and Campee Phayom of Thailand. Sun?s last five fights have ended by stoppage while Phayom (9-1,7KO?s) is coming off his first career loss by unanimous decision in a hard fought match against Lin Li Quan of China in Hong Kong last May.

Sun and Phayom will fight for the vacant WBO Youth Asia-Pacific lightweight crown.

Set to appear on the undercards are Zhao Xiaoyu (158lbs) of China vs Pamod Kumar (155lbs) of India ? 6 rounds and Wang Feihu (168) of China vs Hisyam Sams (160) of Malaysia ? 4 rounds.

The WBO title bouts will be supervised by WBO VP for Asia-Pacific Leon Panoncillo and this card will be officiated by the Professional Boxing Commission of China.
