ROACH CANCELS PACQUIAO GYM WORKOUT WEDNESDAY

LOS ANGELES, CA -- Manny Pacquiao's chief trainer Freddie Roach cancelled anew a scheduled workout Wednesday to give his prized ward the needed rest following a strength-draining grind the previous day.
Pacquiao himself asked that he be given another respite after undergoing a heavy eight-round sparring Tuesday.
Knowing Pacquiao to be having a long recovery spell from jet lag, the 56-year-old Hall of Fame trainer readily granted the eight-division champ's request.
Pacquiao's team arrived here only last Saturday from an 11-hour plane trip from Manila. He resumed his preparation here Monday.
"Coach Freddie saw how hard was Tuesday' session for Manny kaya naman pinayagan na niyang makapag-pahinga," Roach's Filipino assistant at the former's Wild Card Gym, Marvin Somodio explained. (see separate story).
Wednesday's training cancellation was the third time that such happened since the Sarangani Congressman pitched camp in his hometown General Santos City a month ago.
Roach had, likewise, gave Pacquiao rest for two days in-a-row in the first week of sparring at the GenSan camp.
