MIGRENO FIGHTS BA-AT FOR OPBF CROWN

PhilBoxing.com

WORLD Boxing Council International flyweight champion Rey ?Delubyo? Migreno will fight Japan-based Jonathan Ba-at for the interim Orient Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) bantamweight title on April 1 at the L?Fisher Hotel in Bacolod City.

Migreno of the Brico Santig Stable in Baguio City has won all his last seven fights, six of them by knockout or technical knockout.

The 29-year old native of Lopez Jaena, Misamis Occidental previously scored a TKO win against Aekarthit Kanyaprom last August 29 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center in Hong Kong.

Migreno won the WBC International flyweight title by a TKO over Pongsaklek Wonjongkam last Nov. 1, 2012 in Thailand. Migreno, however, has a record of 20 wins, 20 loses, 3 draws and 19 KOs.

Ba-at, who has been in Kanazawa, Ishikawa, Japan for seven years now has a better ring record with 30 wins, 7 losses and 4 draws with 14 knockouts.

The 35-year old southpaw from Davao City, however, dropped a unanimous decision against Liborio Solis in their championship fight for the vacant WBA Fedecaribe bantamweight title held Dec. 17 at the Arena Roberto Duran in Panama City.

?Dinaya kami doon sa Panama,? said Ba-at, who is now training at the Sanman Boxing Gym in General Santos City since March 7.

Baat and Migreno were friends in Cebu before the former went to Japan to join the Kashimi Boxing Gym.

?Amigo me ni Rey pero pag nasa sa ring lahi na,? said Baat, a former Minproba bantamweight champion.

Ba-at fought but lost for the WBC International Silver bantamweight title by a knockout against Rodrigo Guerrero last October 25, 2014 in Durango, Mexico.

He also bowed to Jun Qiu Xiao by a unanimous decision for the WBC Asian Boxing Council Continental super bantamweight title held March 28 in Suining, China.

Out of 21 fights in Japan, Ba-at has won 16 of them with only 3 defeats and 2 draws.

The Migreno-Ba-at bout is one of the triple OPBF championship fights promoted by the NARIS-Highland International Promotions of Thailand?s top boxing promoter Naris Singwancha and Brico Santig.

The boxing event is part of the 3-day 54th OPBF Convention set on March 30 to April 1 at the L?Fisher Hotel.

Games and Amusements Board (GAB) Chairman Juan Ramon Guanzon is also the current OPBF president. ? LITO DELOS REYES
