LATEST AMONSOT UPDATE! By Salven L. Lagumbay PhilBoxing.com Fri, 20 Jul 2007 ALA Boy Czar Amonsot now weighs a very trim 134.6 lbs, a shade below the lightweight limit, just a day prior to the official weigh-in set tomorrow at the Mandalay Bay. ALA Gym chief trainer Edito Villamor informed a few hours ago of Amonsot's weight after doing some light jogging near the Mandalay Bay. This means that Amonsot would not have any problems when he steps on the scales tomorrow, assuring his fans that he is in the best condition in his life ever. The official weigh-in is set tomorrow at the Mandalay Bay Events Center at 2:30PM, open to the public and broadcast live by ESPN. "I like our chances because Amonsot is in his best shape ever and I was talking to some reporters and (GBP vice-president) Eric Gomez and they think it could be the fight of the night," informed Amonsot's manager Michael Aldeguer, who is in Las Vegas to provide moral support to the boxer along with top Filipino promoter Sammy Gello-ani. During the final presscon held today at the Mandalay Bay's House of Blues Music Hall, Aldeguer also thanked Golden Boy Promotions for the opportunity for Amonsot to fight for a world championship and what it has done for ALA Boxing. "We did not train in the afternoon because Czar's weight is now perfect. Then we also attended the final press conference," reported Villamor, who also revealed that HBO will hold a fighter meeting at 1230PM tomorrow at the Jazz Room of the Mandalay Bay prior to the official weigh-in. According to Villamor, who saw Katsidis in person for the first time today, the WBA champion "is strong but he's not a thinking fighter but he does not have the style although he has tremendous pressure abilities and is such a terrific fighter. "This will be a great fight. The first man who lands the big shot gets the spoils of war," said Villamor, adding that, "We have a big chance."
