DENOY CHALLENGES JARO TO A WINNER-TAKE-ALL FIGHT

PhilBoxing.com

Newly-crowned WBO Asia-Pacific light flyweight champ Along Denoy, who defeated WBO no. 1 Kaichon Sor Vorapin on Friday in Thailand, has informed that he is willing to trade punches against anyone his management team will put in front of him.

Speaking to Philboxing.com in a late dinner arranged by Denoy's manager Antonio L. Aldeguer at the Sugbahan Restaurant last night after his arrival from Thailand, Denoy said he is confident of his chances against any of the top dogs in his division.

"I'm ready to fight anytime. Even if they put me in a fight in the US soon, I will be ready," said Denoy, who came with trainer Tingyan Velasquez and an army of ALA and SGG fighters last night.

Also present at the late welcome dinner for Denoy were Aldeguer and the country's top promoter Sammy Gello-ani.

Aldeguer praised his fighter for his impressive win against Vorapin, adding that he had initial doubts on sending Denoy to enemy territory. "But Denoy told me he has Vorapin's numbers, so I had to let him travel," said Aldeguer, adding that Denoy did very well in his first fight against Vorapin.

Aldeguer stressed that among his wards, it was Denoy "who showed tremendous consistency in the gym, so we never really had any doubts on his capabilities."

Trainer Velasquez, who was in Denoy's corner for the Vorapin fight, said that the 'Boholano Bulldog' was indeed knocked down in the second round of the fight after a big shot to the body, but soon recovered owing to his tremendous conditioning.

"From that knockdown, he was the one putting pressure on Vorapin, until he caught him to score five knockdowns all throughout," said Velasquez.

ALA boxers celebrate Denoy's victory in Thailand with a late dinner upon Denoy's arrival last night.

With the win, Denoy is sure to barge into the top five of the WBO ratings, and is expected to become a marked man in his division.

Denoy, however, welcomes any challenge, including a possible winner-take-all against RP champ Sonny Boy Jaro on September 15 in Cebu.

Promoter Gello-ani has already forwarded to the GAB boxing division the proposed September 15 card, featuring RP minimumweight champ Denver Cuello against Milan Milendo and RP flyweight boss Rocky Fuentes versus Danilo Lerio.

The winner-take-all concept would mean Jaro will stake his RP crown against Denoy, and if Jaro wins, he can also take Denoy's WBO belt if he wants to.

"I'm ready. Let's do the winner-take-all," said Denoy.
