NBA -- Golden State shines over Chicago, 125-94 By Kristy Gonowon PhilBoxing.com Fri, 22 Jan 2016 CHICAGO -- It was nothing but California dreaming for the Chicago Bulls and 23,152 Bulls fans Wednesday night, as the Golden State Warriors breezed into Chicago's United Center and reminded everyone why they are the reigning NBA champions with a dominant performance, 125-94. Golden State dominated the first half when they looked to their star, Stephen Curry, for 15 points and Harrison Barnes, with 11 points. 10 of Curry's points came in the first quarter. Golden State would also get a good amount of help off the bench in the first half from Finals MVP Andre Iguodala and Leandro Barbosa, who added 8 points each, and Shaun Livingston with 6 points. Golden State would enter halftime up 63-44. Golden State's defense would also prove valuable as both Draymond Green and Andrew Bogut had 8 rebounds, while Curry would also garner 7 assists. In comparison, Chicago struggled out of the gate, scoring only 18 points in the first quarter. No one in Chicago would be in double digits within the half except for Derrick Rose. Not to be outdone, Derrick Rose gave a refresher course on why he is a former league MVP by matching Curry's 10 points with 10 of his own in the first quarter. Rose then went on a tear in the second quarter with another 11 points and ended the first half only 2 points behind the rest of the team, scoring 21 of Chicago's 44 points. Taj Gibson and Pau Gasol added a little help defensively with 5 and 6 rebounds, respectively. The third quarter opened up for Chicago's Jimmy Butler, as he banked 19 points after only scoring four in the first half. He would join Rose (23 points) as the only other Bull in double digits by the end of the quarter. But the highlight of the third came from Golden State when Barnes grabbed the rebound under Chicago's net, tossed it midcourt to Barbosa, who then threw a running half court pass to Iguodala, who then leapt and dunked defiantly with 1:46 left, putting Golden State up 82-61. Golden State would end the quarter up 87-63. The win for Golden State was a forgone conclusion in the fourth quarter with most of the starters finishing their night with less than four minutes left in the game, as Chicago struggled to put up any serious challenge. Curry earned the only double-double of the evening with 25 points and 11 assists. Curry was joined by five others scoring in the double digits (Barnes, Klay Thompson, Iguodala, Barbosa, and Shaun Livingston). Green and Bogut would also end the evening in double digit rebounds with 10 and 12, respectively. Chicago's loss Wednesday night did see four Bulls end the night in double digit scoring: Butler (23), Rose (29), E'Twaun Moore (13), and rookie Bobby Portis (16). Rose's 29 points would be the game high with Butler's 23 being third-highest. Portis also tied with Gasol with each grabbing 8 rebounds for the night. Chicago's big man, Joakim Noah, did not play due to injury. Up next: Both teams play next on Friday when Chicago travels east to face the Boston Celtics, while Golden State extends their stay in the midwest to battle the Indiana Pacers.
