NBA -- Wizards ice Bulls, 114-100 By Kristy Gonowon PhilBoxing.com Wed, 13 Jan 2016 ![]() CHICAGO -- With close to freezing temperatures and blustering snow on Monday night, the Chicago Bulls attempted to warm up the United Center by hosting the Washington Wizards. Washington, however, proved too hot for Chicago as the Wizards cruised past the Bulls, 114-100. In the first half, Washington guard John Wall was all over the court as he put up 8 points, 3 rebounds, and contributed 5 assists. Wall had help with scoring from foward Otto Porter, Jr. and Ramon Sessions, who each had 9 points in the half while Gary Neal would come off the bench to add 11 points. Chicago on the other hand had two players in double digits by the end of the first half with center Pau Gasol banking in 11 points and 7 rebounds and Derrick Rose, who had 13 points. However, it was Jimmy Butler who seemed to help everywhere as he tallied 8 points, grabbed 3 rebounds, and contributed 5 assists. Although Chicago kept it within three at the end of the first quarter, 25-28, they would fall behind by double digits early into the second quarter and by as much as 15 points. Going into halftime, Washington led by 14 points, 62-48, and outscored Chicago 34-23 in the second quarter alone. The second half was no better as Washington led by as many as 18 points while playing without Marcin Gortat (sore left knee), Kris Humphries (sore right knee), and Bradley Beal (stress reaction in lower right leg). Even with banged-up players sitting out, Washington came through with the win while seven of its players scored in double digits: Otto Porter, Jr., Nene, and Garrett Temple each had 14; Drew Gooden had 11; Ramon Sessions had 16; Gary Neal had 11; and John Wall scored 17 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, and 10 assists. Despite the loss, Chicago did have some hot spots: Derrick Rose scored 23 points, Jimmy Butler ended with 19 points, 4 rebounds, and 7 assists, and Pau Gasol contributed 15 points and 10 rebounds. Up next, Chicago travels to Milwaukee on Tuesday while Washington hosts Milwaukee on Wednesday. Photo: Jimmy Butler is surrounded by a trio of Wizards in Monday night's action at the United Center.
