Oliva now ready to face ex-IBF world champ in South Africa
By Lito delos Reyes PhilBoxing.com Sat, 05 Dec 2015

WORLD Boxing Federation (WBF) Asia Pacific flyweight title-holder Jether Oliva of General Santos City is now ready to fight former IBF world junior bantamweight champion Zolani Tete on December 18 at the ICC Hotel in East London, South Africa.
?He?s now ready to face Tete,? said Oliva?s manager-promoter Jim Claude ?JC? Manangquil of Sanman Promotions.
Oliva (23-3-2, 11 KOs) previously stopped Ryan Ralozo by a 3rd round technical knockout last August 23 at the BS Gym in Lanao del Norte. Oliva and his trainer Renie Gabawa will fly on December 13 and are expected to arrive the following day in South Africa.
The 12-round title-fight for the WBO Africa super flyweight crown is promoted by Ayanda Matiti of Xaba Promotions.
?He (Tete) is a tough opponent being in the top 5 world-rated fighters,? Manangquil said.
Tete (21-3, 18 knockouts) remains the No. 4 ranked 115-pounder in the world by The Ring magazine despite giving up his title earlier this year.
The 27-year-old southpaw won the vacant title in July 2014 with a unanimous decision win over Teiru Kinoshita in Japan, then retained it with an eighth-round stoppage of Paul Butler in England last March.
Oliva, on the other hand, earlier bowed to Luis Nery by a 4th round stoppage last February 28 at the Centro De Convenciones in Mexico.
He also lost by a controversial split decision to Moruti Mthalane during their 12-rounder title-fight for the vacant IBF world flyweight crown held March 15, 2014 at the Durban International Convention Centre, Durban, KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa.
Oliva, however, is determined to win his second ring assignment in South Africa. -- LITO DELOS REYES
