Panabo, Davao pugs now ready for Batang Pinoy By Lito delos Reyes PhilBoxing.com Sun, 22 Nov 2015 THE young boxers of Panabo City and Davao City are now ready to see action in the Batang Pinoy National Finals slated on November 27 to December 2 at the Cebu Coliseum in Cebu City. Panabo coach Lerios Siodina and Davao City coach Jun Sagarino both said their teams will leave on November 26. ?Okay na ang team ug ready nami mularga sa buntag karong Nov. 26,? said Siodina. Panabo is sending eight boxers, which won four golds and four bronze medals in the Mindanao Qualifying Leg held last month in Koronadal City. Panabo also earned three golds and two bronzes in last year?s Batang Pinoy National Finals held ? Panabo, which is supported by outgoing Congressman Anton Lagdameo and former congressman Tony Boy Floirendo, will be represented by Carl Jhon Austria (kids minimum 34 kg.), Myrwen Aballe (kids power 36 kg.), Jet Bruce Fornes (school boys light bantamweight 54 kg.) and Christian Austria (school boys flyweight 52 kg.), who all won a gold medal in Koronadal. Panabo will also have bronze medalists Kenneth Magpatoc (kids vacuum 30 kg.), Christian Betonio (kids light mosquito 38 kg.), Jhon Paul Abatayo (school boys paperweight 44 kg.) and Kent Jade Cedric Solomon (school boys pinweight 46 kg.). Davao City, on the other hand, is joining for the first time in the national competition for young athletes aging 15 years old and under organized by the Philippine Sports Commission and Association of Boxing Alliance in the Phils. (ABAP). Only two boxers had qualified from Davao City ? John Ednoel Prevendido (48 kg.) and Efrelan Loreto (50 kg.), a gold and a silver medalist, respectively in the school boys division. They are under the newly-formed Davao City Amateur Boxing Club (Dacaboc) headed by Calinan Kagawad Renato ?Tata? Villafuerte. ?I hope that we can bring home a medal for Davao City,? said Villafuerte. DC coach Jun Sagarino, however, is confident and has high hopes on his two young fighters. ?Masipag ang ating dalawang boxers. Baka suwertehin pala tayo,? Sagarino said. All technical officials, coaches, trainers and delegation officials will have a solidarity meeting at the Cebu City Sports Center on Nov. 27 followed by a parade at 3 p.m. The opening ceremony is at 4 p.m. to be followed by a Mayor?s & Governor?s Night (Cebu Night) at Cebu City Sports Center Gym.
