BATANG PINOY: Davao pugs bag 1 gold, 1 silver

DAVAO City captured one gold medal plus a silver in boxing in the just-concluded 2015 Batang Pinoy Mindanao Leg held Oct. 29 at the Osita Central Elementary School in Koronadal City.
John Ednoel Prevendido of Bacaca scored a split decision against a hard-fighting Dhan Ariel Adolfo of the MP Pacman-sponsored Barangay Labangal-Gensan team in the finals of the light pinweight division for 48 kg.
Two judges scored it 29-28 and 30-27 in favor of Prevendido while the other judge gave it to Adolfo, 26-29.
?If wala lang siguro na warningan si Prevendido sa referee sa second round, unanimous decision siguro unta,? said coach Jun Sagarino.
Prevendino then put more pressure against Adolfo in the third round to escape with a split decision win and the lone gold medal for the newly-formed Davao City Amateur Boxing Club (DACABOC).
DC also earned a silver medal courtesy of Efrelan Loreto of Calinan in the light flyweight division (50 kg.), who bowed to Labangal?s Kim Delmar Macaangga in the final bout.
