PhilBoxing.com

ARMY reservist Dennis ‘The Cannon” Quiñonero of M’lang, North Cotabato will fight Monsod Cadalso of Pampanga in the main event of the “Sta. Lucia Barrio Brawls” on April 25 at the Entertainment Center, Building 3 in Sta. Lucia East Mall. Cainta, Rizal.

The 42-year-old Quiñonero is the first Davaeño professional Juego Todo fighter from Mindanao. He has a 1-2 record as an amateur in juego todo.

It will be Quiñonero’s first professional fight in Juego Todo, the world’s first ever Filipino Martial Arts Hybrid Sport platform recognized as a professional sport under Games and Amusement Board.

“I’m now three years as a Juego Todo player,” said Quiñonero, who is a security guard.

His record is one win and two loses.

Quiñonero, who is from Dojo de Quiñonero of Mati City, is trained by his older brother Jenery Quiñonero of Jen Fitness in Toril, Davao City.

He is managed by Marco Cenojas of the Cenojas MMA Davao.

“This fight is so challenging for me because my opponent is much more experienced compared to me,” said Quiñonero.

Quiñonero has been a MMA fighter for 13 years before entering Juego Todo.

His last fight was a loss against Jay “El Calibre” Verdadero last August 7 at Pantukan, Davao De Oro.

His MMA record in an amateur is 25 wins with 5 losses and professional as one win with no loss.

Quiñonero’s debut in juego todo in 2024 was against Mohammar Sobair, which was a split decision loss.

“Let’s go for an intense and exciting clean fight!” Quiñonero told Cadalso.

He added that “good luck to both of us."

“The sport is so complete in action and I like the rules,” said Quiñonero.

“It’s totally complete fighting action sport, and it’s nice to be the first professional juego todo fighter from Mindanao,” said Quiñonero.

There are rules in every round for a total of three rounds.

In a first round, a double stick can be used with kicks and knees are allowed with a takedown.

In the second round, a single stick with punches, kicks and knees with a takedown.

“Reset if knocked down,” said Quiñonero.

The third round, it will now be a mixed martial art.

“The gears are removed except for gloves and the MMA rules will be used,” said Quiñonero.

Quiñonero will be playing as a professional for the first time.

“There will be no foams on the gears already,” he said.

Quiñonero has been training juego todo at the gym of his manager Cenojas, son of former Davao Karate Club instructor Grand Master Martin Cenojas.

The event is presented by Latayan Hybrid Corporation.
