Team USA Secures Three Gold Medals on Final Day of 2026 Gee Bee Boxing Tournament PhilBoxing.com Mon, 13 Apr 2026 USA Boxing High Performance Squad Closes Tournament with Eight Medals HELSINKI, Finland. (April 12, 2026) – USA Boxing’s Elite High Performance Squad earned three gold medals and one silver medal on Sunday, April 12, at the 2026 Gee Bee Boxing Tournament in Helsinki, Finland. The United States’ competition week concluded with all eight boxers earning medals. Deborah Grant was named the tournament’s Best Female Boxer after securing her gold medal. Moises Rodriguez (55 kilograms) controlled his gold-medal bout from start to finish, winning via unanimous decision over Italy’s Badr Eddine Bouraouia. Rodriguez secured his second win of the tournament after earning every judge's card, winning each round 5-0. This week’s performance marks Rodriguez's first international gold medal in his Elite international tournament debut. Deborah Grant (57 kilograms) concluded her dominant run at her first international tournament with a gold medal. Grant defeated Denmark’s Alice Bennedbaek by an RSC-2 to place at the top of the podium and secure the tournament's Best Female Boxer Award. Sunday's performance marks her third win of the week in Finland, including two unanimous decisions to go along with her stoppage victory. Nnajai Wright (90+ kilograms) carried the momentum from his semifinals victory into Sunday's title bout. Wright secured another unanimous decision victory on Sunday, his second in as many days, over Germany’s Dilvan Yeazgan. The gold medal marks the second of his international career and the first of his Elite international career with the United States. Team USA also saw Jayshannet Zapata (54 kilograms) earn a silver medal on Sunday. Zapata lost 4 1 to Kazakhstan’s Zhaina Shekerbekova, but her run to the silver medal was nothing short of impressive. The New York native was the only American boxer to compete in four bouts throughout the week. She won two of her three bouts via unanimous decision and capped the week with her first international medal. Team USA sent eight boxers to Helsinki, Finland, and all eight will head home with a medal, including three gold medals, one silver medal and four bronze medals. Throughout the competition at the 2026 Gee Bee Boxing Tournament, the United States was led by USA Boxing National Development Coach Edward Fonteneaux (Fayetteville, N.C.), and assisted by Holly Gregson (Idaho Falls, Idaho), Billy Rafalko (Philadelphia, Pa.), and Ronald Wright (Columbus, Ga.).
