LA FIGHT CLUB RESULTS: TEIXEIRA STOPS MOUTON AT BELASCO THEATER

PhilBoxing.com

LOS ANGELES -- The October version of Golden Boy?s LA Fight Club lived up to its billing tonight. There were 5 stoppage amongst the 7 fights scheduled. And, the one that ended up as the only unanimous decision, as well as that that was decided by a majority decision were not that bad either.

Patrick Teixeira (26-0-0, 22KO) of Santa Catalina, Brazil kept his record clean via a 7th round stoppage of a tough as nails Don Mouton (13-10-1, 11KO) of Houston, Texas (top photo).

Mouton, like a bull at the Arena in Tijuana, came charging as the first bell sounded. Wisely the Brazilian kept away from the charging Texan but decidedly out worked Mouton. As the second half of the fight continued, Teixeira begun to show his brilliance that allowed him to be undefeated. But in round 6th Mouton out of nowhere scored a left that hurt the Brazilian who had to hang on the rest of the round to survive. In round 7th, seemingly fully recovered, Teixeira begun to target the swollen right eye of Mouton and went on to dominate the fight. A series of punches highlighted by beautiful straight left made Mouton covered and hang on for his life.

Seeing that the Texan is so far behind and badly beat and his only chance to win was a puncher?s chance, Referee Raul Caiz Jr called a halt to the fight. Time: 1:31 of round seven.

Ochoa vs Rodriguez.

In the supporting main event, Zachary Ochoa (13-0-0,6 KO) of Brooklyn, NY stopped Alejandro Rodriguez (24-18-1, 14KO) of Guadalajara, MX. Ochoa dropped the Mexican with a nice combination in round 2. A great right as the third round started sent the Mexican down to the canvas again. As he got up, the end was inevitable and true enough a series of punches brought his back to the canvas. The referee has seen enough and stopped the fight at 22 seconds in round three.

In the first TV fight via EstrellaTV, Antonio Rodriguez (19-1-1, 8 KO) of Tijuana, MX fought tooth and nail with Victor Fonseca (9-6-1, 7KO of San Diego, CA) and ended up winning via a UD. Scores are: 60-54, 59-55 and 59-55.

Other results:

Ochoa vs Avalos.
Francisco Ochoa (3-0-0, 2KO) of Los Angeles stopped debutant Isaac Avalos of Tijuana, MX at 2:29 of round 1 with a picture perfect body shot. Avalos failed to beat the count of referee Zac Young.

Pablo Rubio Jr (3-0-0, 2KO) of Los Angeles stayed unbeaten with a majority decision win over Adrian Rodrigues (1-8-1, 0 KO) of Guadalajara, MX. Scores were 38-38, 40-36 and 39-37.

Joshua Franco (2-0-0-,1K0) of San Antonio, Texas stopped Saul Hernandez (5-8-1, 3KO) of Tijuana, MX Time 1:46

Abraham Lopez (2-1-0,1KO) wins by KO over Andrew Gomes (0-3-0,0KO of Mission, Texas, Time 2:28 round 2.
