NBA -- Russian giant set to join Cavs?

 Alexander Kaun.
WASHINGTON -- If things fall nicely into place as anticipated, the Cleveland Cavaliers will get a significant upgrade in the center position.
According to multiple reports, the Cavaliers, who have been busy as a bee this offseason, is currently trying to work out a deal with Russian center Alexander "Sasha" Kaun.
The 7-foot, 256-pound Kaun played for four years at the University of Kansas where he won a national championship in 2008. Shortly thereafter, Kaun, 30, was drafted by the then Seattle SuperSonics (Round 2, 56th overall) but he has played only in Russia for CSK Moscow since 2008.
Kaun, whose NBA rights are owned by the Cavs, averaged 9.9 points and 4.4 rebounds in 30 Euroleague games last season. He was a member of the 2012 Russian National Team under head coach David Blatt, who currently coaches the Cavs.
Apparently, Kaun is ready to make the NBA leap.
But here's where it gets complicated.
The Cavs, who have given Kevin Love a max deal over $100 million plus over $49 million for two years to LeBron James, can only pay Kaun $4 million for three years. Kaun made $2.9 million last year.
Still, Kaun is unfazed. He doesn't seem to mind to pay cut.
"That's probably something that shouldn't be a problem. Hopefully, coming to this team, it will give us an opportunity to win, and winning is more important to me than money. Just play basketball and enjoy it and play with some great players. That's the most important thing," Kaun told Celveland.com
Kaun was last seen Friday night in Las Vegas, sitting by LeBron James and members of the Cavs coaching staff while watching the ongoing NBA Summer League.
