PhilBoxing.com

CHINA'S BIGGEST PROMOTER READY TO HIT TOOWOOMBA WITH A BANG
Liu Gang and his team of fighters faced off with their opponents for the first time today.

LIU GANG IS BOXING ROYALTY IN CHINA and today he was the star attraction at the first press conference for TGW & Smithy Bring the big fights 10. Mr Gang was China's first ever professional boxer and a former olympian - now he is the countries biggest promoter.

Gang also managed China's first and only World professional Champion.

Saturday will mark the first time he has brought a fighter to Queensland.

The Chinese trio have spent plenty of time since their arrival jogging around Queens Park and visiting Picnic Point.

"It's wonderful to be in Toowoomba," Liu Gang said.

"Earlier in the year I hosted Brendon Smith and two of his boxers in China for one of our cards so it's nice to come to his back yard."

One of his top prospects Xu Chan will challenge Kris George for his WBA Oceania super light weight belt.

"He's very young, just twenty-one years old,but very mature.

"He has trained well for this and he wants to take the belt back to China," Liu Gang said.

Kris George is undefeated in seven bouts, five by knock out.

"I'm ready to go the distance," George said.

"If the knock out comes earlier so be it.

"This is the best prepared I've been for any fight, I'm 100% for this one.

"My opponent is tall and rangey but I think I can overpower him." George said.

Meanwhile in the other Australia China showdown Iron Will Young takes on Wang Xinghua.

"I'm really excited to fight some one like Wang Xinghua," Will Young said.

"I have great respect for my opponent and for Liu Gang.

"This is a big opportunity for me."

Meanwhile Jack Asis's opponent Hero Tito flipped his cards early. When asked to pose for a 'friendly' photo he walked straight up to the IBO World champ and got in his face.

Tito has made no secret he thinks he can beat Jack Asis on Saturday night.

"I'm here to win," Tito said

Meanwhile Jack Asis had a simple response.

"I have no comment about my opponent," Asis said.

"It'll be a hard fight and I'll try my best.

"I'm excited to fight as the World Champion in my home town of Toowoomba."

All fighters will weigh in officially tomorrow at 6pm at THE VAULT ON RUTHVEN. The event is free admission to the public.
