By Lito delos Reyes PhilBoxing.com Wed, 27 May 2015

DAVAO CITY (PNA) May 27 ? Dabawenyo boxer John Vincent ?Mulawin? Moralde will fight for the World Boxing Council (WBC) World Youth featherweight title on June 19 in Spain.
Moralde, reigning WBC Asian Boxing Council Continental featherweight champion, will challenge new champion Evgeny Smirnov of Russia for 10 rounds at the Pabellon Municipal, Sedavi in Comunidad Valenciana, Spain.
In his previous fight, the undefeated Moralde (12 wins, 6 KOs, 0 L, 0 D) defeated Australian Brayd Smith via a convincing unanimous decision to win the WBC ABC Continental featherweight title last March 14 at Rumours International in Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia.
Smith collapsed soon after the bout due to bleeding on the brain, and passed away two days after the bout.
"OK na siya (Moralde). Naka move on na sa laban ni Smith," said Moralde's young manager Jim Claude Manangquil.
Moralde has started already his training for almost two weeks now at the Sanman Gym in General Santos City.
"In fact, naka-spar na siya ng 8 rounds since Monday," said Manangquil.
Moralde, who fights under Sanman Stable and Promotions will be accompanied by Manangquil and trainer Renie Gabawa.
The 21-year old Smirnov is also undefeated with a record of seven wins with two knockouts and no loss or draw. The 5-foot-9 ? Smirnov enjoys a height advantage over Moralde (5?7).
Smirnov won the vacant WBC World Youth title by a slit decision only against Noe Martinez Raygoza of Mexico last April 4 at the Sports Palace in Russia.-- LITO DELOS REYES
