KONCZ DENIES MP PROMOTIONS PIRATED CABALQUINTO FROM PROMOTER GELLO-ANI

 Cabalquinto.
Manny Pacquiao?s adviser Michael Koncz has denied reports that he had pirated Philippine junior welterweight champion Adones Cabalquinto from longtime promoter Sammy Gello-ani.
Cabalquinto is scheduled to defend his title against Jonel Gadapan in the main event of an MP Promotions fight card in General Santos City on May 30.
Cabalquinto is also the reigning WBC Asian Boxing Council super lightweight champion.
The former outstanding amateur was signed to a promotional contract by Gello-ani who plotted his career and looked after him while he rose in the rankings to eventually win the Philippine title.
Like many others, Gello-ani hasn?t received any support or protection from the Games and Amusements Board which turns a blind eye to the illegal raiding of fighters by other promoters and matchmakers.
When the New Standard/boxingmirror.com asked Koncz about Cabalquinto fighting on an MP Promotions card which has been put together by trainer Joven Jimenez he said ?I know nothing about this and it is not Manny?s or my customs and practice to take boxers from other promoters or managers or interfere with live contracts.?
Koncz added, ?if someone has done this through MP Promotions then it was done without Manny?s or my knowledge or blessing.?
He clarified that Cabalquinto ?may be fighting on one of our cards as a lot of other fighters do and are managed and promoted by other people.?
