MAYWEATHER-PACQUIAO FIGHT PREVIEW

The moment of truth is almost here. The boxing world and interested spectators now stand at the threshold to determine who truly is the ?Pound for Pound? best fighter in boxing. Is it the reigning King, Floyd ?Money? Mayweather (47-0, 26 KOs) or is it Manny ?Pacman? Pacquiao (57-5-2, 38K0s)? It has taken 5 long years to reach this point. At the advanced age of each fighter (Mayweather 38 and Pacquiao 36), some are asking will this fight live up to expectations and is it worth the pay per view amount of $99.00 (an all-time high for a boxing match)?

This is a question that can only be answered this Saturday at the sound of the bell. There are reports that Mayweather has over trained for this fight, a rumored hand injury from a well placed sourced in Mayweather?s inner circle, the removal of strength and conditioning coach Alex Ariza (who formerly had worked for Pacquiao), Mayweather?s subpar performances against sparing partners for the Pacquiao fight, etc.

According to other news outlets, Mayweather has made comments such as ?if he wins the fight? he will post former Rap Mogul, Suge Knight?s (currently being incarcerated for alleged murder pending trial) 10 million dollar bail. That does not sound like the confidant Mayweather of the past. This writer challenges anyone to produce a quote or reference Floyd Mayweather Jr. saying, ?if he wins the fight? prior to past fights. If there ever was a crack in the proverbial armor, the time is now. Mayweather is ripe for the taking. So what can we expect from Mayweather on fight night has he faces the most dangerous opponent at this late stage of his illustrious career?

Regardless of what Mayweather says to the media about being aggressive with the slightly shorter Pacquiao, he will find his opponent quicker than he is. He will not ?walk Pacquiao down? as his trainer/Dad suggests Mayweather will do. Instead Mayweather will retreat and go on the defensive and look to pick his shots while Pacquiao attempts to swarm him with a barrage of punches. Mayweather will also look to time Pacquiao and try to land a knockout punch much the same way that Juan Manuel Marquez did. Mayweather will not be able to build a points lead against Pacquiao. Mayweather will not outwork Pacquiao. What does Pacquiao Have to do to defeat Mayweather?

Pacquiao has to outwork Mayweather and make him move more than normal. The first few rounds Manny will have success finding his target, but it won?t be easy. He has to continue to use his speed to beat Mayweather to the punch. Mayweather will try to compensate for that by setting traps for Pacquiao. Pacquiao must not be reckless as the Mayweather camp expect him to be. It has to be controlled aggression for Pacquiao to be effective against Mayweather. Pacquiao must dictate the pace of the fight and maintain that for the entire fight. Who will be victorious Saturday night?

As Pacquiao continues to apply pressure to Mayweather, he will begin to slow down by the fifth round. Mayweather will be hit more than he has ever been hit by the sixth round then he has been in his entire professional 19 year career. Look for Pacquiao to bust up Mayweather face with one eye swollen shut. Pacquiao will pitch a shutout. Pacquiao will win by TKO in the 9th round and not only shock Mayweather, but the world as well.

Boxing Notes: It?s a shame that the true hardcore boxing fans and aren?t able to attend this Saturday?s May-Pac fight due to unaffordable ticket pricing?.It?s sad that devoted journalist and Boxing writers who promoted this fight for free for the past five years on a grass roots level were denied media credentials in favor of other writers who did nothing to promote this fight who are in Vegas to cover this fight because of their affiliation with larger more known media outlets.
