GOLDEN BOY PREDICTS BAUTISTA-MEDINA WILL BE A THRILLER

Golden Boy Promotions says the WBO super bantamweight eliminator between Rey “Boom Boom” Bautista and Argentina's Sergio Medina will be a “thrilling bout” as the two contenders put their undefeated records and future title shot on the line in a twelve round bout in Las Vegas on May 5.

The Bautista-Medina bout will be one of the three televised bouts that will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on May 6 (Manila Time) headlined by the unprecedented super fight between six division world champion Oscar De La Hoya and unbeaten four division champion Floyd Mayweather Jr regarded by many including the prestigious Ring Magazine as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world today.

Golden Boy Promotions which is putting up what experts believe will be a pay-per-view record-breaker says Philippine sensation Bautista who has a record of 22-0 with 17 knockouts has been “leveling his competition, mounting an extraordinary undefeated record and near perfect knockout percentage on the journey to his upcoming WBO junior featherweight title eliminator.”

Golden Boy Promotions said Bautista has been “dominating the ropes against fierce contenders” including veterans Marino Gonzalez (KO 3), Giovanni Andrade (RTD 4) and Roberto Bonilla (KO 3) in his last three bouts. The Oscar De La Hoya outfit said Bautista is considered “one of the fans and critics must-see attractions” in boxing.

Argentinean Sergio “Rocky” Medina who has a record of 28-0 with 16 knockouts who is 25 years old to Bautista’s 20, has accomplished an imposing record while “crushing his competition with his speed and savvy style.” Golden Boy said that with his “eyes focused intensely on the title” currently held by Daniel Ponce De Leon, Medina is excited to challenge another undefeated record holder and do so in his trademark rousing fashion on boxing’s biggest stage.

Also featured in one of the supporting bouts is another emerging ring sensation from the famed ALA Gym of respected boxing patron Tony Aldeguer, AJ “Bazooka” Banal who together with Bautista has been training along with De La Hoya at the Wilfredo Gomez gym in Puerto Rico. The 18 year old Banal who has a record of 12-0-1 with 10 knockouts is matched against hard-hitting Mexican Juan Alberto Rosas who has a record of 25-2 with 22 knockouts.

The super fights titled “The World Awaits” will be telecast exclusively by the giant broadcast network ABS-CBN over Channel 2.
