Hollywood Looks To Bring Boxing?s Bobby Gunn?s Illustrious Career To Big Screen PhilBoxing.com Tue, 09 Dec 2014 Since stepping between the ropes of the squared circle and making his professional debut back in 1989, Bobby ?The Celtic Warrior? Gunn has made a name for himself within the world of boxing. In addition to having thrown hands with several world champions and future Hall-of-Famers, including, Tomasz Adamek, James Toney and Glen Johnson, Gunn accomplished what all boxers dream of when they first lace up the gloves?capturing the world title belt. On September 16, 2006, Gunn stopped Shannon Landberg in the 7th round of their 12 round bout and took home the coveted IBA World Cruiserweight Title. Outside of the boxing ring Gunn carries another well-known name and title, being renowned as an undefeated bare knuckle pugilist, and most recently was acknowledged by the International BKB Hall of Fame who presented him with the World Heavyweight Title Belt, the first since legendary BKB champion John L. Sullivan held it in 1889. The IBKB HOF recognized Gunn as the true champion because of his 2011 sanctioned BKB victory knockout over Richard Stewart, the first and only sanctioned bare knuckle boxing match since 1889. Prior to his boxing career took off in 1989, Gunn has been known worldwide for never being beat within the underground world of bare knuckle boxing, being donned the street king of BKB. And following the first sanctioned BKB bout in 2011, there has been much buzz around the world for the sports emergence, which caught the attention of several Hollywood producers who have expressed interest in turning Gunn?s life into a motion picture. ?Bobby Gunn?s life is part Mickey Ward, part Charles Bronson from Hard Times, part Rocky? a man who came from nothing an ended up world champion. Outside of the ring he holds a world legacy of being the undefeated king of bare knuckle boxing, and not only on the underground circuit, but has been recognized by the ultimate authority. We have already been in contact with a handful of agents and producers in the entertainment industry who are adamant about bringing the Bobby Gunn project to life,? said PR Manager Chris Cella. Not developing out of thin air, Bobby Gunn has been fortune to have on his team longtime friend and renowned producer Danny Provenzano. Gunn was featured earlier this year in Provenzano?s film Manhattan Kansas, where he was portrayed as a BKB fighter squaring off against his real life friend and promoter David Feldman. Gunn, Feldman and Provenzano have worked diligently in reenacting bare knuckle scenes so that documentary film crews could bring them to life for not only the Hollywood world to see the fighting background Bobby Gunn came from, but also so that the public could have a personal look into the mysterious world of underground bare knuckle boxing. ?The Bobby Gunn story is a story that fight fans, fans of entertainment, and fans of the underdog story want to see,? says Cella. ?The reenactments only give a small glimpse and preview into the life and times of Bobby Gunn, and there is so much more to bring to the surface, and shed upon the life, legacy and career has built.? While the team cannot discuss particular into who is looking into bringing the Bobby Gunn story to the big screen, Provenzano and Gunn are anxious to get the project started. ![]() |
