SUICO DEFENDS OPBF LIGHTWEIGHT TITLE APRIL 23
By Joe Koizumi PhilBoxing.com Sun, 15 Apr 2007
TOKYO, JAPAN -- Out of OPBF champs in seventeen divisions some are very active like lightweight ruler Randy Suico (25-3, 22 KOs) and super-bantam titlist Wethya Sakmuangklaen (85-4, 52 KOs).
WBC#6/WBA#11 Suico will defend his 135-pound belt against Japan's Tomonori Nakagawa (15-5-4, 4 KOs) in Osaka, Japan, on April 23. If victorious, the Filipino hard-puncher will take on OPBF#2 Koji Samejima (15-1-1, 6 KOs) who recently scored a couple of important knockouts over Filipino champ Dexter Delada and Thai ruler Songnarong Kiatsingnoi to his credit. Suico is also scheduled to put his belt on the line against hard-hitting Japanese Keita Manabe (26-3, 22 KOs) in Tokyo this fall.
Also, WBC#6/WBA#Wethya, a formidable Thai southpaw, already kept his regional 122-pound belt by a unanimous verdict over Futa Nakagishi in Nagoya on April 1. The Thailander will meet OPBF#2 Kyohei Tamakoshi (18-4-5, 8 KOs) with his belt at stake in Kobe, Japan, on June 3. Should he emerge victorious, Wethya will take on OPBF#9 Yuya Miyagi (14-2-2, 5 KOs) in Shimizu this September.
It is good that the OPBF fistic map has been activated by such fighting champs.
