CHICAGO -- The Chicago Bulls will play their 5th straight game at home in a rematch against the Sacramento Kings Saturday night at the United Center.
The last time these two teams met, the Kings dominated the Bulls en route to a 99-70 win in Sacramento. In that encounter, the Kings controlled boards and the scoring inside the paint.
Joakim Noah was ejected in the third quarter after picking up a second technical foul. He also had choice words with the referees, an act that cost him $15,000 in fines.
Joakim Noah has been on a tear lately, leading the Bulls to a 36 and 29 record. The two-time All-Star has had numerous triple doubles and his recent play has garnered him some MVP talk.
His leadership and intensity has carried the team without their former MVP Derrick Rose, who has been out with a meniscus tear, and the since traded Luol Deng.
The Bulls have had key wins on this home stand against the defending champion Miami Heat and Houston Rockets. They are 2-2 with losses against the San Antonio Spurs and Memphis Grizzles.
Sacramento boasts some talent --- point guard Isiah Thomas, swingman Rudy Gay, and big man Demarcus Cousins. Cousins pounded Chicago with 25 points and 16 rebounds during their last meeting.
The Bulls will have to play with the same passion as if they were playing the Miami Heat if they do not want to suffer the same fate as their previous game. Chicago is currently the 4th seed in the Eastern Conference.
Sacramento has no shot to make the playoffs in the deep Western Conference but they can play spoiler to many teams as the season winds down. (KM)
