NBA -- Warriors hand Lakers back-to-back beating By Greg Pikul PhilBoxing.com Wed, 15 Oct 2014 CHICAGO -- Things got out of hand early for the Los Angeles Lakers Sunday night, when the Golden State Warriors caught fire pretty quick and blazed their way to a 116-75 blowout at the Citizen's Business Bank Arena in Ontario, California. The 41-point demolition was the second rout the Warriors administered on the Lakers, who bowed to Golden State, 120-105, three days ago at Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles. Unable to locate any rhythm, the Lakers missed 23 of 27 field goals in the opening quarter, and the Warriors wisely took advantage by building a 39-13 lead. Golden State then settled matters for good with a 37-point third quarter explosion that gave the Warriors a 100-60 bulge entering the final 12 minutes. While the Lakers struggled, the Warriors played like a team possessed, shooting 15 for 21 in the opening quarter. The Splash Brothers -- Steph Curry and Klay Thompson -- combined for 41 points to lead the Warriors' assault while Kobe Bryant missed 10 of 13 shots to finish with a meager six points. All told, the Warriors shot a blistering 56.2 percent (41-of-73 from the field)) while the Lakers swished only 30 of 82 shots (36.6 percent). Curry led all scorers with 25 points and 6 assists in only 23 minutes of action while Klay Thompson added 16. David Lee chipped in 14 points. In the two meetings between the two teams, the Warriors have averaged 118 points on 56 percent shooting, beating the Lakers by an average of 28 points.
