REY LORETO, DAPUDONG, CUELLO GUESTS IN PSA FORUM SEPT. 16 PhilBoxing.com Mon, 15 Sep 2014 International Boxing Organization (IBO) Junior Flyweight champion Rey "Hammer" Loreto, former IBO super flyweight champion Edrin "The Sting" Dapudong and world contender Denver "The Excitement" Cuello will be guests in the Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Sports Forum on Sept. 16 in Shakey's Malate, Manila. All three boxers are seeing action on Oct. 11 in the "Clash of the Little Titans" in Davao City against opponents from Thailand in preparation for very important fights in their career. Loreto, 23, originally from Davao City who is now based in Baguio City will be making the first defense of the IBO title in a return bout against South Africa's Nkosinathi Joyi. Loreto, a largely unknown fighter before he was taken in by boxing promoter Brico Santig, fought Joyi in Monaco on Feb. 12 and knocked out the two-time world champion from South Africa to win the IBO title. Dapudong, 27, became North Cotabato's first world boxing champion when he knocked out another South African, Gideon Buthelezi, in Johannesburg July 15 last year but lost his title in a controversial split decision to Lwandile Sityatha in East London, South Africa July 18. Dapudong hopes to come up with a convincing victory on Oct. 11 to arrange a rematch with South African Sityatha in Davao City before the end of the year. Cuello, 26, one of the most exciting small fighter in the country, makes his first appearance in the ring following a tragic loss to China's Zhou Xiong Zong after he suffered a dislocated right shoulder in Dubai last year. He underwent a surgery which sidelined him for over a year. Ten other bouts featuring the brightest boxing prospects of Mindanao against Cebuano fighters will complete the card to be held in the Davao City Recreation Center, formerly known as the Almendras Gym in downtown Davao City. The Oct. 11 "Clash of the Little Titans" is promoted by Sonshine Sports Management and will be aired Oct. 12, Sunday, by the soon to be launched Sonshine Sports TV.
