SPORTS RECORDS 2: MANNY PACQUIAO HOLDS SIX GUINNESS BOOK WORLD RECORDS

PhilBoxing.com

Manny Pacquiao has held six Guinness Book World Records. He has the most consecutive boxing world title fight wins at different weights at 15, from 2005 to 2011. He became the oldest welterweight boxing world champion when he seized the WBA welterweight title at age 40 years 215 days on July 20, 2019 against Keith Thurman.

Pacquiao has the most boxing world titles won in different weight divisions with eight, when he defeated Antonio Margarito to win the WBC super welterweight title on November 13, 2010. He has also held title belts in the WBC flyweight, super featherweight and lightweight divisions, plus The Ring featherweight, IBF super bantamweight, IBO and The Ring light welterweight and WBO welterweight.

His fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. recorded the highest selling pay-per-view boxing match with 4.6 million buys and over $410 million in revenue in a unified world welterweight title fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, on May 2, 2015. It was also the highest revenue earned from ticket sales for a boxing match totalling $72,198,500.

The longest game played in a world chess championship is the 6th game of the 2021 World Chess Championship between Magnus Carlsen and Ian Nepomniachtchi, which Carlsen won in 136 moves by resignation. The game lasted for 8 hours, 15 minutes and 40 seconds.

Gukesh Dommaraju is the reigning world chess champion. He became the youngest undisputed world champion, the youngest player to have surpassed a FIDE rating of 2750 at the age of 17, and the third-youngest to have surpassed 2700 Elo at the age of 16. He earned the title of grandmaster at the age of 12 and is the third-youngest grandmaster in chess history.

Gukesh is only the 18th player to become the undisputed chess champion of the world. He accomplished the feat at the age of just 18. He was four years younger than the legendary GM Garry Kasparov was when he took the title from GM Anatoly Karpov in 1985, with Kasparov that time a few months younger than another candidate for the world title, GM Magnus Carlsen, who won as world chess champion in 2013 beating India’s first world champion, GM Viswanathan Anand.
