PINOY BOXER REY LORETO TO FIGHT UNDER 'TRIPLE G' CARD IN MONACO

PhilBoxing.com

Light flyweight Rey Loreto of Davao City will be part of the February 1st card in Monaco that features middleweight superstar Gennady ?Triple G? Golovkin as the headliner.

Loreto, the current PABA interim light flyweight (108 lbs.) and ranked within the top 20 of both the World Boxing Association (W.B.A.) and the World Boxing Council (W.B.C.) at flyweight will be facing Nkosinathi Joyi (24-2, 17 KOs) of South Africa for the vacant light flyweight belt of the International Boxing Organization (I.B.O.)

The 23 year-old Filipino, who sports a record of 17 wins (9 KOs) against 13 defeats together Joyi will figure in one of three championship fights that are scheduled that night in the known tourist destination along the French Riviera.

Loreto now trains at the Highland Gym in La Trinidad Benguet, some 3 kilometers north of Baguio City. He has been preparing for this fight at the said gym since the last week of October when his team got notified of the fight.

?He is really ready for this fight.? His manager, Brico Santig told Philboxing.com.

He is being trained by Joven Jorda, a former boxer, according to Santig.

Joyi defeated a Filipino fighter in his last outing, knocking out Benezer Alolod of Cotobato del Sur in the 9th round to capture the WBC International light flyweight title in South Africa in August of last year.

The South African boxer has been undefeated against all his previous Filipino opponents.

The main event will feature the inaugural fight in 2014 of Golovkin, one of boxing?s most exciting fighters to watch these days. The Kazakhstan middleweight is undefeated in 28 fights, with 25 of it by way of knockout. He will be facing Osumanu Adama (22-3, 16 KOs) of Ghana.

Golovkin has been an unstoppable force of late and in 2013, he defeated all four of his challengers in 8 rounds or less. This will be his second fight in almost a year in Monte Carlo, defeating Japanese Nobuhiro Ishida by KO in the third round in March of last year.
