NBA -- Jennings fires 33 in Pistons' romp over Bulls
By John Aldwin Mahipos PhilBoxing.com Mon, 09 Dec 2013
CHICAGO -- Brandon Jennings sizzled with a game-high 33 points and the Detroit Pistons overwhelmed the Chicago Bulls, 92-75, Saturday night at the United Center.
Jennings nailed 12 of 22 field goals, including 5-of-8 threes to frustrate the Bulls, who were fresh off a 107-87 romp over the Miami Heat just two nights before.
Andre Drummond and Greg Monroe combined for 16 points and 26 rebounds for the Pistons, who improved 10-10 in the overall standings, 5th place in the Eastern Conference.
"They were getting down into the post and being aggressive with their digs. Sometimes I though we held onto it too much," a frustrated Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau told reporters during his postgame press conference.
Already missing their starting backcourt of Derrick Rose (MCL tear) and Jimmy Butler (turf toe) to injuries, the Bulls woes were compounded when small forward Luol Deng didn't suit up due to a sore left calf Achilles which he said he sustained three games ago..
Taj Gibsom started in lieu of Deng and tallied 21 points and 10 rebounds. Mike Dunleavy had 16 and Carlos Boozer added 13.
But the Bulls, who fell to 8-10, were doomed in the third quarter where the scored only nine points, allowing the Pistons to take a 71-56 edge heading into the final 12 minutes. (JM)
