AMIT ENTERS SEMI FINALS OF WOMEN?S WORLD 10-BALL CHAMPIONSHIP By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Mon, 04 Nov 2013 Amit. The Philippines Rubilen Amit scored a smashing 8-1 victory over Korea?s Eunji Park to enter the semi finals of the World Women?s 10-Ball Championship at the classy Resorts World Hotel and Casino. Park had earlier eliminated World No. 1 Sha Sha Liu of China but backed up by a hometown crowd Amit jumped off to an early lead and never gave the Korean girl a chance. Amit will face dangerous Pei Chen Tsai of Chinese-Taipei in the semi finals while Britain?s Kelly Fischer will play Yu Han of China in the other semi final showdown. Amit is looking to become the first ever two time World 10-Ball Champion and enters her 3rd semi-finals at the Worlds within 5 years, while Han Yu is trying to give China it's first ever Gold at the Worlds, and first ever in a major tournament outside of China. Amit jumped out to an early lead over Korea's Park and never let go. In a post match interview Amit said "Having declining results here ever since my 2009 the win has definitely been on my mind. So I've really trained hard for this one." Dragon Promotions which is staging this top class event in cooperation with the giant broadcast network ABS-CBN which will telecast the semi final matches on Studio 23 beginning at 2:00 p.m. noted that Han Yu will be China's lone survivor from the original 8 players from her country that made it to Day 4. Yu had won a bronze medal here at the Worlds in 2011. She has at least now matched that feat and looks to improve. China has been a powerhouse in pool nowadays, but their dominance has been primarily in mainland China. They have been winless here at the Yalin Women's World Championship because of what most people feel is neutral ground. No Taiwanese or Chinese has ever won the World 10-Ball. If Kelly or Rubilen wins, she will become the first player to win the World 10-Ball twice. Click here to view a list of other articles written by Ronnie Nathanielsz. |
