NBA Preseason -- Cousins drop 31, Kings handle Clippers
By Lyanna Pillazar PhilBoxing.com Tue, 15 Oct 2013

SACRAMENTO -- The Sacramento Kings earned their first home win Monday night at the Sleep Train Arena, beating the visiting Los Angeles Clippers, 99-88.
Center DeMarcus Cousins, who signed a four-year $62 million contract extension last month, proved to be a sound investment for the host Kings. The 23-year old behemoth scored a game-high 31 points, including 25 in the first half where Sacramento opened a 56-47 lead. Cousins also grabbed 11 rebounds and had two steals.
Other key contributors for the Kings include point guard, Isiah Thomas who scored 16 points while small forward John Salmons, and shooting guard Marcus Thornton chipped in 10 points a piece.
?We?ve talked about habits and creating good habits on a daily basis. It?s day by day for us,? Kings coach Mike Malone told reporters after the match. Malone had previously said that "the goal for us this year is to get better everyday," a goal that proceeded in the right direction last night.
Jamal Crawford led the Clippers with 25 while Darren Collison tallied 20 markers and 10 assists. Byron Mullens dropped 16. Blake Griffin, Chris Paul, Matt Barnes, and DeAndre Jordan did not play for the Clippers, who dropped to 2-1 in preseason play. (LP)
