RESULTS FROM TALISAY CITY?S 1ST MAYOR JVR CUP AMATEUR BOXING

TALISAY CITY, CEBU ? Fight fans witnessed sixteen entertaining amateur fights last Saturday in the 1st Mayor JVR Cup Amateur Tournament Dual Meet at the Talisay Sports Complex.

The 60kg category bout won by Lester Tejada of the Ablaca Stable, 2-1 against Jason Espacio of the Redneos stable of Talisay City capped the evening?s festivities.

Two standouts from the Talisay city ? Kits Garces and Marvin Pumar - who won gold medals during the 2013 ?Batang Pinoy? Visayas leg held in Maasin City were honored with trophies by the local government officials headed by Mayor Johnny V. de los Reyes.

Both boxers, who represented the Talisay City Amateur Boxing Association (TACABA), were also victorious in their respective contests last Saturday. Garces beat Raymond Rama of the Phil-Aust Gym on points 2-1 in the 46 kg category while Pumar beat Clint Gersale of Batang Lacion Boy also by 2-1 margin in the 39kg weight class.

For the other matches ? Dino Dawa (Redneos Stable) beat Lloyd Muchael (Lacion Boy) by RSC-outclassed in the second round (55kgs), Jeffrey Stella (Phil-Aust) won on points 2-1 over Jeorgy Edusma (Lacion Boy) ? 52 kgs, Cedie Noblefranca (Tangke, Talisay) won on points against Ronnie Coralles (Lacion Boy) 3-0 (45 kgs), Richard Rama (Phil-Aust) beat Marvin Pesalbon (Lacion Boy) 3-0 (43kgs), Tony Tunacao (Phil-Aust) beat Kiven Parot (Redneos) by RTD 2nd round (40kgs), Cristian Munilar (Lacion Boy) won 3-0 over PJ Orillo (Redneos) ? 34 kgs, Gaufrey Lobiano (Lacion Boy) beat Baby Rama (Phil-Aust) 3-0 (32kgs), Red Cabonilas (Talisay) won over Mark Luis Ledama (Lacion Boy) 3-0 (30kgs), John Mark Lariosa (Yanie Sta. Cruz Stable) beat Limbert Cainap (Phil-Aust) 2-1 (30kgs), John Paul Cabonilas (Lagtang, Talisay) won 3-0 over Jimpol Dignos (Phil-Aust) ? 29kgs, Kit Nino Abatayo (Lagtang, Talisay) beat Marvi Pesulbon (Lacion Boy) 2-1 (27kgs), Johmaue Andrino (Lacion Boy) won 3-0 over Aki Toda (Phil-Aust) ? 27 kgs and Excel Mugar (Phil-Aust) won by first round RSC against Carlo Noblefranca (Tangke, Talisay) ? 26kgs. The event was officiated by TACABA officials with International referee Teddy Alivio serving as the fight jury.
