The boxing bouts also served as the venue for the practicum of the referees, judges and technical officials who underwent the "National Open Boxing Accreditation for Referees and Judges and Refresher Course" held on August 13-16, 2016 in Maasin.

The seminar was conducted by International Referee/Judge and Association of Boxing Referees and Judges of the Philippines (ABREJAP) President Dante de Castro and AIBA International Technical Official Jesus San Esteban Jr. It was the first seminar held in the Philippines on the new International Boxing Association (AIBA) rules Open Boxing.
