ALA?s Gumban battles Indonesian at home on Aug. 24 By Jerome S. Galunan Jr. PhilBoxing.com Thu, 15 Aug 2013 BACOLOD CITY -- It was eight months ago when undefeated ALA gym prospect Melvin Gumban (14-0, 6 KO?s) last fought before his hometown in Escalante City, Negros Occidental. On August 24, he will return home to face John Bajawa (11-4, 6KOs) of Indonesia in a 10-round clash in the 115 lbs. of the ?Idol? Boxing TV Series? at the Big Square in this city. This event featuring 8 professional bouts is presented by ALA Promotions headed by Michael Aldeguer and sanctioned by the Games and Amusement Board chaired by Juan Ramon ?Monju? Guanzon. Butuan City?s Mark Vincent Bernaldez will be tested by Indonesian Marangin Marbun in the scheduled 8-round undercard fight at 124 lbs. limit. In the fight card, copy furnished from GAB-Bacolod Office, 3 fighters from Bacolod City are scheduled to see action in the undercard. These Negrense protagonists include John Rey Melligen, Alvin Sibugan and Roniel Parcon ? all from Bacolod City. Melligen will go up against Mark ?Magnifico? Magsayo of Tagbilaran City, Bohol in a 4-round fight at 126 lbs., as Sibugan takes Kim Galon of Davao City, also in a 4-round clash in the 105 lbs. Parcon, on the other hand, will battle Geo Santisima of Masbate City in another 4-round battle at 130 lbs. Other scheduled fights feature Richard Barrios of Bais City taking Ryan Canillas of Toledo City in a 6-rounder battle at 105 lbs. as Jerome Baja of Mandaue City battles Kazuma Ejiri of Osaka, Japan in a 4-round tussle at 118 lbs. while Raul Yu of Butuan City exchange gloves against Manadaue?s Diomedes Semella in the 4-round fight at 115lbs. limit.
