Asian Games gold medalist Rey Saludar has scored back-to-back victories on two consecutive days at the 27th Asian Elite Men's Championships being held at the modern Amman Boxing Arena which was donated to the Jordan Boxing Association by King Abdullah himself and is located in the Jordanian capital of Amman.

In his second battle the 25 year old Saludar avenged his previous loss to Kazakhstan?s 22 year old Ilyas Suleimenov who had beaten the Filipino in the 2011 staging of the championships in Incheon, South Korea where the tnwo-time national champion Suleimenov won the silver medal and qualified for the 2012 London Olympics.

Determined to get back at the tough Kazakhstan fighter, Saludar kept up relentless pressure throughout all three rounds was determined to exact revenge and maintained the pressure in all three rounds, connecting with effective hooks and straights according to ABAP executive director Ed Picson.

Under the new AIBA ten-points must system, only three of the five judges count. The computer chooses which three would decide the match. Two of the judges had Saludar winning by a close 29-28 margin while a third judge scored it for the Kazakh fighter by an identical o 29-28 score.

The newly-married Army man whose wife is expecting their first child this September, goes up against Thailand?s Tanes Ongjunta who beat Saudi Arabia's Samer Humaidi in the other flyweight match. Their showdown is set for Friday.

Meanwhile, up next for the PLDT-ABAP team is 20-year-old Rogen Ladon, who was scheduled to face Hasan Naser of Iraq on Wednesday.
