TALK N? TEXT BASKETBALL TEAM FILES CHARGES AGAINST GULF AIR By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Mon, 24 Jun 2013 The players and staff of the Talk N? Text basketball team has filed charges against Gulf Air which canceled their confirmed tickets from Dubai to Manila without any notice. PBA Legal Counsel, Atty. Melvin Mendoza said the case was filed on behalf of the PLDT-owned team by Commissioner Chito Salud, himself a well-known lawyer. Mendoza said the PBA was constrained to bring the issue to court in the wake of Gulf Air?s failure to provide a satisfactory explanation, pointing out that the PBA had ?written them several demand letters but up to this time the airline company has not yet given a satisfactory explanation.? The case was a result of Gulf Air?s refusal to board the players and officials of the PLDT team who had confirmed bookings on their return trip to Manila on July 2, 2011. TNT had been joined by Barangay Ginebra and Barako Bull and members of the PBA staff as members of the delegation that went to Dubai on July 2011 to play official games mainly to entertain Overseas Filipino Workers. The PBA said it was surprising that Gulf Air canceled the confirmed bookings of the Talk N? Text team without even giving them any notice even as it was pointed out that the team did not encounter any problems when they left Manila for Dubai and had no inkling that they would be subjected to a harrowing experience at the airport when they checked in for their return flight. Mendoza revealed that ?The players and officials of TNT went to the check-in counter of Dubai airport at least three hours before their scheduled flight only to be informed that their bookings were canceled.? Some of the team members stayed at the airport and took their chance to book a flight with other airlines at their own expense while the rest opted to spend the night in a nearby hotel and catch a flight the next day.
