PhilBoxing gets credentials to cover 2013 NBA Finals PhilBoxing.com Tue, 04 Jun 2013 ![]() After being accredited to cover this year's NBA All-Star Game last February, PhilBoxing.com has also received credentials to cover the 2013 NBA Finals which begins on June 6. Leading the PhilBoxing team is 20-year sports writing veteran Homer D. Sayson, this site's NBA page editor who has been credentialed to 10 NBA Finals. Sayson, who pens a Second Overtime column here, has covered hundreds of regular season and NBA playoffs games. Joining Sayson is Rodene Ivan Cortes, PhilBoxing com's NBA correspondent from New York. Cortes, who will attend the upcoming NBA Draft this June 27 at the Barclays Center, will cover the New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets full-time in the 2013-14 season. Although the NBA Finals dates have already been set in stone, the cast isn't complete yet. The four-time NBA champions San Antonio Spurs razed through the playoffs with a 12-2 record and captured the Western Conference title by beating the Los Angeles Lakers, Golden State Warriors and Memphis through three rounds. But they won't know who to play in the NBA championship until later today when the defending champions Miami Heat square off against the Indiana Pacers in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference at the American Airlines Arena. With four-time MVP LeBron James at the forefront, the Heat are decidedly favored to prevail over the stubborn Indiana Pacers. Of the 112 Game 7s played in the history of the NBA playoffs, the home teams have won 89 times, or a staggering 79.4 percent clip. Photo: Homer Sayson and Rodene Ivan "Den" Cortes. |
