Pro Boxing Back in Boston May 24th

PhilBoxing.com

Pro Boxing Returns to Boston on Friday May 24th at 7PM to the National Guard Armory at 70 Victory Road in Dorchester. Tickets are available at www.ProBoxingBoston.com.

It will be an evening of live fights and raffles to support donations to the One Boston Fund for victims of the Boston Marathon bombings and the Dorchester Boxing Club. Prize items include autographed photo's and gloves from Manny Pacquiao, Roy Jones Jr. and Shannon Briggs.

In the heavyweight main event, undefeated Alexis Santos (8-0, 7 KO's) faces the stiffest test of his career in a 6 round bout against Alabama's Keith Thompson (6-1, 4 KO's). Santos, from nearby Lawrence, has been seen as a hidden gem on the American heavyweight scene. Thompson is trained by Jay Deas, who is the lead coach for heavyweight contender and 2008 Olympic bronze medalist Deontay Wilder.

Also on the show, Chris Traietti (12-3, 8 KO's) of Quincy looks to extend his record for the calendar year 2013 to 3-0 as he takes on battle tested Mickey Scarborough (6-5, 6 KO's) in a light heavyweight contest. Locallly based Irishman Michael Mclaughlin (4-1-1, 3 KO's) takes on Springfield journeyman Jose Angel Ortiz (4-12-1, 1 KO) in a welterweight tilt. Agustine Mauras (5-0-1, 3 KO's) puts his unbeaten record on the line in a grudge match with Jesus Cintron (1-2-1), who was overheard telling Mauras at a recent boxing event, "I can't wait to give you your first loss", leading to event promoters putting this bout together.

Stoneham based welterweight prospect Greg Vendetti (2-0, 2 KO's) will meet the toughest and most experienced foe of his young career when he takes on Noel Garcia (2-17-1) in a welterweight four rounder. Quincy heavyweight Nick Cyr (1-0, 1 KO) meets John "The Duxbury Dandy" Desmond in a 4 round fight. Haverhill police officer Brendon Simonds (2-0, 2 KO's) is also scheduled to fight for the first time in over 5 years in a welterweight fight.
