NBA preview - Celtics vs. Knicks Game 5

PhilBoxing.com

NEW JERSEY. The Celtics staved off elimination on Sunday with a spirited Game 4 victory in Boston, slicing the New York Knicks' best-of-7 series lead to 3-1.

But as the series shifts to the Madison Square Garden for Game 5 Wednesday night, the Knicks have the golden opportunity to close out the series and advance to the second round where they will await the winner of the Indiana Pacers-Atlanta Hawks showdown.

New York head coach Mike Woodson told reporters that the Knicks have to focus on defense so that they don't have to claw their way back from an early deficit.

The Knicks' JR Smith returns from his one game suspension for the flagrant foul on Jason Terry during the Knicks lopsided game three win. The Knicks certainly missed the NBA Sixth Man of the Year's 16.3 point per game playoff scoring average.

The Celtics' Jason Terry is looking forward to playing at the Garden and extending this series.

Terry told reporters, "I love it, this is what the playoffs are about. Maybe there’s something special about us this season that says this is the hurdle we must overcome.” (RS)
